OW ‘US AIRFORCE’

A custom version of OW’s quintessential military watch, the ref. 105 made for US Airmen serving in Vietnam. The dial bears a silhouette of the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, a midair refuelling aircraft, used in Vietnam to extend the operational range of fighter jets and B-52 bombers. The ‘flying gas station’ provided salvation to hundreds of stricken US aircraft by diverting deep into enemy airspace to deliver emergency fuel. Its sister plane, the B-52 Stratofortress, features on the current M-52B AF, which is a salute to this rare historic OW model. Other than the pristine example that resides in the OW Archive, we know of no other. If you own one, or have owned one in the past, do let us know.
